            "Career Counselling"

The post graduate department of chemistry believes in all-round development of its students. A counselling Seminar was organized on 25th July,2014. So, the students from class B.ScIII participated in a career counselling session organized in college campus. The session was headed by captain Vinayak Gupta and motivated the students about career aspects in army field. This session was highly encouraging as it raised the feeling of patriotism among the students.

                                                              " Chemistry in Community"

 An innovative and informational seminar was conducted for the students of +1 ,+2 and B.Sc I  by Mrs. Sunita Khanna and Mrs. Nishu Jindal on Chemistry in Community and Do's and Don't in Chemistry. This was an introductory seminar in which Power Point presentation was given on Chemistry in community and a short movie was displayed on the smart board regarding Do's and Don't in Chemistry lab. This presentation was very knowledgeable and student enjoyed the presentation. Dr. (Mrs.) Anju Gupta started the event by giving an introductory message to the students. The seminar was organized on the 28 july 2014.

                                           Interactive Talk :Organ Donation Awareness

Organ donation day is celebrated in India on 13th august every year by the people , government organization and other related professions in order to motivate normal human being to donate the organs as well as to understand the value of organ donation in the life of an individual. The purpose of the celebration is loud and clear- to promote organ donation for those who are in need of them.
Department of chemistry organized an awareness cum PowerPoint Presentation on World’s Organ Donation Day. The students participated in the seminar under the stewardship of Dr. (Mrs) Anju Gupta, (HOD) Department of Chemistry and guidance of Mrs. Sunita Khanna, the initiative was taken to aware the student about importance of their lives even after their death.
The objective of this event is to aware the people about the need of organ donation and to remove the hesitation of the people about donating the organs.

Dream Green: World Ozone Day

September 16th was designated by the United Nation general assembly as the international day for the preservation of ozone layer. The day is mainly intended to spread awareness of the depletion of ozone layer and search for solution to preserve it. People from all over the world are expected to gather on this day to join the talks and seminar.
Department of chemistry organized a state level inter college science competition Dream Green an event to observe World Ozone Day. This state level even comprised of various competition like Quiz, Model Presentation, Rangoli, Power Point presentation, Poster Presentation and Cartooning. To participate in this event more than 100 students from different prestigious colleges of Punjab reached the campus. Thus more than about 300 students participated in this event. Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Prashar inaugurated the Marie Curie Eco Club, organized for the preservation of our environment by Department of Chemistry.

                                                                        Marie Curie Eco- Club

Department Of Chemistry takes the Privilege of introducing an innovative and environment congenial organization i.e Marie Curie Eco-Club. It is the moral duty of each and every individual to make our earth pollution free by making our surrounding  neat and Clean  so the club first motive to arise awareness  among the people to make their surroundings neat and clean. The Club has many activity to be carried out monthly for environmental awareness. Celebration of World Ozone Day was one of them.

Seminar : Water conservation “THIRST”

Every year 22nd March is celebrated as world water day .The day is celebrated to focus on importance of water and need to preserve it. Water day is celebrated around the world with variety of events like educational , musical, theoretical in nature. The theme encouraged the use of nature based solutions to water related challenges. The intention is to inspire people around the world to learn more about water related issues and to take action to make a difference.
Marie Curie Eco- Club introduced by Post graduate department of Chemistry takes a privilege to organize an activity i.e. Power Point Presentation on Water Conservation “THIRST”. A thought provoking presentation was given by students of B.Sc. III under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs) Anju Gupta and Mrs. Sunita Khanna. This seminar was very useful in creating awareness about conserving water.

Community Development: A Visit to Blind Home

The community development program has its objective economic development.
Department of Chemistry organized a visit to Blind Home. This time there was distribution of flour, pulses, eatables etc the things of daily requirement. This activity shows the compassionate side of the department and helps the needy people in one way or the other.

                                                National One Day Science  Seminar

Department of Chemistry Organized a National One- day Science Seminar on 29 November 2014 on the topic entitled "Science Today". Dr. S.S Chimni from Guru Nanak Dev University was invited as a resource person for the presentation. He introduced the students to the various aspect of green chemistry for the sustainable development of the environment. T he talk was very informative for the students and enriched them with knowledge.

                                                Seminar: World AIDS Day


World AIDS Day designated on 1st December every year since 1988 is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS caused by spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.
Department Of Chemistry organized a Power Point Presentation on World AIDS Day. Students of B.Sc. III presented a seminar cum Power point Presentation to aware the general people about causes, diagnosis and prevention of AIDS. Mrs. Nishu Jindal hosted the seminar and guided the students about causes of this disastrous disease. Dr. (Mrs) Anju Gupta was the chairperson. She aware the students to show harmony and concern to the AIDS affected patient. The seminar was very informative for the students.

  Community Development: A Visit to Mother Teresa home

Department Of Chemistry also has a compassionate side in which it organizes trip and visits to certain places for community development program. Madam Mrs. Sunita Khanna along with her students of B.Sc. III visit to Mother Teresa home for distribution of flour, clothes, milk powder, toys and other daily requirements to the orphan babies. This type of activity is organized to help the remote areas of society .

Seminar: Women Empowerment

International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March every year to celebrate women achievements throughout history and across nation.  It is a focal point in the movement of women’s rights. Department Of Chemistry organized a power point presentation cum seminar on “Women Empowerment”. Student of B.Sc. III and II presented power point and delivered the lectures on the topic and made the female students aware about their rights. They also said that women should be empowered mentally, socially, economically and at education level also. Dr. Mrs. Anju Gupta resided over the seminar.

Awareness Programe: Mat -Pita Santan Divas

The celebration of Mat Pita Santan divas is to make students aware about the importance of our eternal social, cultural and spiritrual values. Students paid their respect and gratitude to their parents in creative manner i.e. poetry, songs, memories and emotions.
 To respect our elders and parents is our social and spiritual value.Mat- Pita- Santan Divas is just a gratitude to them.
Postgraduate Department Of Chemistry organized an activity to express a gratitude to the parents by the students. The event was named as Maat Pita Santan Diwas which memorize the wonderful relation created by nature. Under the stewardship of Dr. (Mrs)Anju Gupta students expressed their views, their emotions and thoughts for their parents and discussed about their sweet memories of their parents. Ms. Shaweta and Ms. Mandeep Kaur guided the students regarding the event.

Celebration of National Science Day

National science day is celebrated in India on 28th February each year to mark the discovery of Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C V Raman. The celebration includes public speeches, science movies , science exhibitions based on the themes and concepts, debate, quiz competitions, lectures and many more activities.
Postgraduate Department Of Chemistry celebrated the National Science Day to memorize the contribution of great Scientist and Nobel Prize Winner Dr. C.V. Raman. The theme of the year was “Science for Nation Building.” to celebrate the day Ms. Gurpreet, Ms. Mandeep and Ms. Komal Sharma organized the Quiz for the students of B.Sc. III on general science.

A small get together to celebrate the successful completion of first batch of M.Sc Chemistry was organized on 23 April 2015 in the Hostel's Common room at 10:00 am . Dr.(Mrs.) Anju Gupta H.O.D thanked Principal Madam for upgrading the department from undergraduate to postgraduate department. Dr. Madhu Prashar Showered her blessing on the outgoing batch.
