World Ozone Day
World Ozone Day is held on September 16th to mark the day back in 1987
when the Montreal Protocol was signed. The day is
mainly intended to spread awareness of the depletion of the Ozone Layer and search for
solutions to preserve it. The ozone layer, a fragile shield of gas, protects
the Earth from the harmful portion of the rays of the sun, thus helping to
preserve life on the planet. The Celebration of this day has contributed
significantly to increase the awareness and global efforts to address climate
change.
The department of Chemistry observed the Ozone day in
collaboration with “Punjab Pollution Control Board” on 16th September, 2015.
State level inter college competition and seminars are conducted as a part of
the Activity. Under graduate and post graduate students take part in the
various events organized such as Power point presentations, debates, Rangoli,
Poster presentation, Cartooning etc. A scientific lecture
for the Students delivered by our guest of honour Sr. Avtar Singh Dhindsa

- Parents Day Celebration
- “Maat-Pita Santan Diwas”
“God couldn’t be everywhere so he made parents”
Parents day is celebrated to express our love, gratitude and feelings towards our parents which we would not do naturally on other normal days. This day has always been celebrated in DSCW campus. The department of chemistry also contributed its bit towards this legacy of celebrating Parents day. Maat-Pita Santan Diwas was celebrated on 8th February,2016 by department of Chemistry for UG and PG students. The students participated enthusiastically and found it a great time to thank their parents, through poems, through their experiences with their parents and life lessons that learn from them. Although a single day is not enough to thank our parents but it was a great initiative by our students.
